G20

On Saturday March 28th 2009 tens of thousands of people from many different backgrounds converged upon London to give a clear message to the leaders of the so-called G20 nations who are to meet in April.

The march went under the name of Put people first and was supported by trade unions and other groups from Environmental Protesters to Anarchists Groups. The CWU had a healthy presence including the usual band from the North East Division.

As the protest gets underway stragglers prepare to join their organisation's delegation.
The Police Federation delegation proudly lead the March!!
The GMB were very well represented as were most Trade Unions.
And in the background the CWU delegation is gathering steam! Ian from Newcastle is seen supervising the photographer.
The CWU delegation in the centre with Diane, Dave and Ian from North East .
A bit blurred but a close up of our Gang.
This was not a white, middle class, middle aged, male dominated march!!
Many disparate groups march side by side.
An excellent representation of the neo-liberal business model!
RMT group were colorful and noisy!!
Peace and Green groups were strongly represented.
  Piccadilly Circus coming up.
All the landmarks on this march!
Colorful and dramatic and a good paraphrase of the Tories 'Labour isn't Working' message of the late 70's.
The message was 'We Won't Pay for Their Crisis'.

All in all a great day out in the sunshine and rain of the Capital. Our presence could have been a bit stronger but it was a privilege to March with so many people who are sick and tired of the lame excuses from those in power and their apologists.
